After decades of experience in manufacturing and operation of Thermal Dryers for any type of sludge, Pieralisi has the technology to minimize or even solve the sludge disposal problem.
The Pieralisi dryer is a direct thermal exchange type. The hot gases produced in combustion enter in contact with the sludge in order to heat the same and remove the water, being able to operate in a continuous or an intermittent mode.
It is a horizontal rotating type on parallel flow; the highest gas temperature enters in contact with the sludge when it has the highest humidity content.
For a better understanding of the thermal drying system we divide it in modules or blocks; that will allow us to define its functions within the set, as well as its auxiliary components that complete the system.
1. The Thermal Energy Generator is destined to fulfill the necessities of the drying system. It consists of a fuel burner, a combustion chamber and a pre-chamber. The fuel can be either solid (organic residues), liquid (fuel oil) or gaseous (LPG, Natural Gas or Biogas). Also exhaust/waste gasses from Turbines or other processes (450-550°C) can be used!
2. The Dryer drum is composed of rotating concentric cylinders, featuring with double pathway of gases in contact with the product to be dried. The drying drum is connected to the gasses, vapors and dry sludge exit chamber. Itīs also interconnected with cyclones and gasses exhaust fan.
3. The Scrubber ensures the vapors condensation and particulates retention; both generated during the evaporation process of the water contained in the sludge of drying drum. The condensed ones and the particulates are sent back to the beginning of the Effluent Treatment Plant.
